A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Finance department in Warwick for a Commercial Accountant.  Reporting to the Finance Director – Aftersales and Central Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent and timely financial advice and data to the Commercial team in order to maximise the sales and margin performance of our business


As a Commercial Accountant, you will:

  • Develop excel / BI / other reporting tools in order to provide, develop and improve management reporting on a continual basis for our Heatrae brand
  • Analyse and review product, sector and customer profitability on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, in comparison with budgets, forecasts and prior years
  • Assist the Commercial team  with all financial matters in order to enhance the decision making process
  • Provide strong IT capability for the finance department in order to further develop commercial reporting and data excellence
  • Develop segmental reporting identifying rebates/profitability by merchant, contractor, developer
  • Assist with the completion of the monthly financial reporting pack, specifically the sales and margins analysis
  • Take an active involvement in the preparation of the monthly management accounts
  • Active involvement in the control and analysis of operational overheads
  • Prepare the annual sales and margin budget model
  • Prepare ad-hoc business reports as required by the business
  • Assist with the preparation of the statutory accounts and detailed tax pack
  • Develop reporting and data analysis in conjunction with business requirements and available IT solutions
  • Instigate ad-hoc projects to assist business performance
  • Submission of weekly sales forecasts in line with Group reporting requirements
  • Balance sheet reconciliations (sales rebates, provisions etc)
  • Ad-hoc activities as and when required


Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Qualified accountant (ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience, preferably with 2-3 years in a similar role
  • Advanced capability in Excel, Cognos BI (or alternative reporting or data mining tools)
  • Flexible with close attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm and energy, professionalism and integrity
  • Confident and able to communicate effectively
  • Pragmatic and credible with non-accountants
  • Commercial acumen a must, able to identify trends and develop detailed understanding of complicated distribution chain
  • The ‘conscience’ of the commercial team
