Commercial Regional Sales Manager – Contractor & Merchant sales

London, South East Region


The Role:

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Regional Sales Manager covering the South East. This role will be managing a team of between 6-10 area sales managers within the region, with a Turnover of around £15million.

As Regional Sales Manager you will optimise sales, profit and cash by promoting the Company’s products and services within the designated region and the wider sector


Regional Sales Manager Role Key Responsibilities & Requirements will include:-

  • To achieve budget volume/price for the region
  • Manage an area with between £14-15 million turnover per year.
  • Manage a team of between 6-10 Area Sales Managers
  • Manage team performance and motivate, set challenging goals and objectives for the team, mentor and develop direct & indirect reports. Ensure that the team works in line with regional and company objectives.
  • Manage appraisals, training etc. in line with Company policy and procedure.
  • To meet and build strong relationships with customers within the region
  • To maintain contact and promote the Company’s products and services to existing customers within the region
  • To establish contact and promote the Company’s products and services to new and potential customers within the region
  • To keep abreast of developments in commercial, technical and policy matters and be able to react accordingly
  • To establish and maintain good customer relations, particularly by prompt and efficient response to queries and complaints
  • To develop business by increasing sales to the existing customer base but also growing the trading account base by winning new customers
  • To assist at exhibitions, conferences, presentations and other functions as required
  • To regularly review personal progress and keep abreast of technical and sales techniques
  • To monitor the efficiency of present procedures and systems and where necessary suggest new improvements
  • To follow safe working practice in accordance with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act and with the Company’s Safety Policy



  • Sales Management experience within the Plumbing & Heating, HVAC, M&E sector
  • Main focus on the Merchants & Contractors
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Good knowledge of IT skills
  • Highly motivated with strong team ethics
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Be prepared to undertake considerable travel and overnights away, as these will be an essential part of the role
  • Understanding of Building Industry practices
