UK HR Shared Services (SSC) Manager 

(Fixed term contract for c.18 months)



A superb vacancy has arisen within the HR Department based at our Preston office. This fixed term role will be for the clear requirement to set up and establish a strong HR Shared Service Centre. This is a key role within Baxi Heating to ensure we have the platform to develop excellent, accurate administrative foundations towards a fully aligned UK business. You will need to be able to optimise existing systems including Zellis Resourcelink working closely with an assigned Project Manager towards manager self-service, automation of HR and Payroll processes.

As the UK SSC Manager you will be responsible for a small team of three (one employee based remotely) ensuring multi-skilled support for all UK people related administration, dashboards and supporting the HR Business Partners, HR Director Head of Talent & Resourcing with appropriate data. 

Some Key responsibilities & accountabilities will include:

  • Establish a solid UK HR Shared Service Centre with robust SLAs to process, verify and maintain documentation relating to HR activities.
  • Lead, guide and develop the UK HR Shared Service Team to manage performance via direct coaching, multi-skilling and personal development plans establishing clear roles, cover and responsibilities.
  • Management of all UK wide shared service administration associated with recruitment, onboarding, new hires, change management, training records and leavers across all of the UK sites, with a total headcount of 1,500.
  • Establish a methodology for managing peaks in workload ensuring a UK HR helpline/inbox/standard set of templates, SLAs, and administrative processes.
  • Develop a standard set of UK wide people related policies, e.g. absence, which are consistently applied.
  • Review existing employee requisition and salary increase approval workflows so that these can be developed via Resourcelink and transition from Lotus Notes with minimal disruption and risk.


Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Solid HR generalist experience ideally gained within a global / manufacturing business
  • Good knowledge of UK employment law and payroll
  • Excellent experience of using & developing HR systems especially Kronos, Resourcelink
  • Demonstrable experience of establishing a central HR Shared Service Centre and managing a team
  • Good level of numeracy and analytical skills with great attention to detail and experience of analysing and interpreting data
  • Experience of implementing new processes and improving shared service environments
